Meet Rowdy (ARPH #10611). Rowdy is a handsome, 2-year-old, red-bi male with average energy for an Aussie. When Rowdy was found as a
stray he was a little shy but has made wonderful strides since. He learned his name very quickly and even knows some basic commands; he has mastered "sit"
and is doing fairly well with coming when he's called. It also appeared that Rowdy had not been brushed in quite some time, this was one of the first things he
experienced in his foster home, he did not mind one bit. A couple days of brushing revealed what a beautiful coat he has. Rowdy has liked meeting everyone
who has come into his foster home, but so far this has only been adults. His foster home plans on introducing him to children soon; they do not anticipate any
problems considering how friendly he has been so far. Rowdy absolutely loves back scratches, talking walks (he is still working on his leash manners) and going
for car rides. He especially wants to be where his people are and enjoys just hanging out with them or being petted. Rowdy has shown too much interest in cats
and cars so a home without kitties and one with a fence will be a must. Rowdy would probably do better in a home with only female dogs as he is a little too
bossy with the males in his foster home but gets along great with the females. Rowdy also was positive for heartworms when he came to rescue. He has already
had his first heartworm treatment and will be ready for his new home at the end of May, once his treatment is complete. Rowdy is current on his vaccinations and
is neutered. He is located in Porter.

Introducing Frazier (ARPH #10571). Frazier is a super sweet 2-year-old black-bi male. Frazier is a low energy
kind of guy whose greatest desire is to be close to his people. He seems to love all people of all ages, thinks that
everyone is his friend, and wants to make sure that everyone has a chance to pet him. You could call him Mr. Meet-&-Greet.
Frazier gets along well with the other dogs in the house and pretty much ignores the cats. If you are looking for someone
to take a nice walk with, Frazier is your man, he is a breeze on a lead with no pulling at all. He doesn't, however,
have any interest in playing fetch or with toys, he would much rather lie near by and watch all the action. Now, for what
his foster mom believes would be Frazier's wish list for a new home: He would appreciate a fence since he does not care
to go potty on a lead. He would love to have a family who is home a lot and has another dog. You see, he misbehaves
when left alone but is a perfect gentleman when he has another dog to keep him company. With his gentle nature he would
be a great companion for someone who is retired. If you are looking for a low-key people lover who is happy just being
close to you, Frazier is your guy! Frazier is up-to-date on shots, heartworm negative and has been neutered. He is
located in Porter.

Meet sweet Gabby (ARPH #10184), an 8 month old red-tri female, about 35 lbs. Gabby was named for her ability to talk and talk and
tell you in her own words -- "roo roo roo" -- just what she is feeling. Gabby is a very happy girl with a tail who loves to cuddle and be close to you. She lost her
home of only a few short months because she liked her family's feathered family members way too much (if you know what I mean). It was the chickens or
Gabby and unfortunately Gabby lost the toss. She is housebroken and crate trained, and she likes going into her crate to chew a bone or take a nap. She likes a
good run outside but settles nicely in the house. Gabby is being fostered with several dogs and cats and does well with both, sharing her toys nicely (a little
interested in the cats and will chase if they run but ignores them otherwise). Gabby has a great sit, down, and recall, she seems to love to please and is a very
smart girl. This lovable girl is just waiting for her forever family to take her home. She is located in northern Indiana.

Adopted 05/04/08!
Please meet Joe (ARPH #10609), or Big Joe as his foster family calls him. Joe is a 2 year old, black-tri love bug. Joe is very sweet, and thinks
that despite being a medium sized dog, he is a lap dog! He just loves attention from people and can be a bit pushy about it, but always in a friendly way. Joe is
your typical velco Aussie, wherever you go Joe wants to be right there with you. He has an average energy level for an Aussie and is happy to use that energy to
play with toys, which he loves. He has a great jump as he can easily jump up to 4 feet, which would make him great for Frisbee or agility. Joe has been introduced
to other dogs at his foster home (big and small), new people and children and has loved every one! Joe will need a home willing to train him as it appears he has
not had any training yet. His foster home is working on housebreaking him, which he is picking up quickly, and teaching him house manners. Right now he still thinks
it's acceptable to counter-surf for yummy treats! With some patience he will learn these manners quickly. Joe is also excellent at finding ways to entertain himself
when he's bored, such as chewing leashes or shredding dog beds in his crate! Needless-to-say Joe still has some puppy in him even though he's 2 years old. Joe is
up-to-date on his vaccinations, neutered, heartworm negative and microchipped. He is located in Advance, and is looking for his forever home.

Introducing Fergie (ARPH #10569, a 2-1/2 year old, 40 lb., red merle female. Fergie is such a pretty girl, I can't tell you
how many people compliment me on what a great looking Aussie she is. Before she came into our rescue she had spent the
majority of her life living outside, we weren't even sure if she was housebroken. Fergie has proven to be quite the smart
little girl who is very good at adapting to new situations. She is housebroken, listens well, has good name recall and
walks very well on a leash. Fergie loves to be petted and also absolutely loves to play and will do so for as long as you
are willing to throw. When first meeting other dogs Fergie takes a minute to warm up but after that she plays really
well and is even good at sharing the couch! Fergie would do fine in a home that has cats, she really doesn't pay any
attention to the cats in her foster home. Fergie is current on all shots and is spayed. She is a very special dog with a
lot of love and loyalty to give. Fergie is located in Sandwich, Illinois.

Adopted 04/21/08!
This is our dear foster dog Pi (ARPH #10570), a beautiful 2 year old, blue merle female with one blue/amber eye and one all amber eye.
The shelter that rescued Pi gave her the name because she was saved her on 3/14. Kind of clever and a great way to remember the start of her wonderful new life!
Pi came from a very sad and neglectful situation. Pi was owned by an elderly woman who, unfortunately, was very ill and completely unable to care for her dogs.
As a result, she kept Pi in a crate almost all of the time. She was not even taken out to go potty very often; so you can imagine how matted and smelly she was
when we picked her up. Considering how neglected Pi was, she is a very sweet and social girl. She's pretty well housebroken, amazingly, only one mistake when
she was feeling particularly stressed. She's great with other dogs and with people too. She loves children but gets so excited when she sees them that she gets
rambunctious and does try to herd them, which can scare the little ones a bit. She's very curious about our cats but not aggressive. I think she would learn to leave
them alone in time. Pi certainly needs a home that will be willing to be patient with her as many things are new to her, and also to train her. There are so many things
she has to learn, like climbing stairs and riding in the car. She's so smart and eager, though, that she's already figured many things out. She's so enthusiastic, like a
child who's discovering the world. I think that she would learn to fetch and do agility and she is definitely adept at herding. So she's perfect for someone who wants
an eager dog to train. She doesn't know how to walk on a leash but doesn't pull too much either. When she looks into my eyes I think she's saying, "Just be patient
with me and teach me all you know and I'll do all I can to please you and be your best pal." Pi is up-to-date on her vaccinations, spayed, and is ready for adoption.
She is located in Park Ridge, Illinois.

Meet sweet little Keria (ARPH #10502), a 3-month-old red merle female. She is full of joy for life! So much to learn and so much to
do and SO much time! She is absolutely gorgeous. Even though her markings suggest that she is a double merle, she can hear and see just fine. She is an adorable
little fluffball. She loves playing the other dogs and has bonded with one Aussie special resident boy.She teases him by stepping behind a tree and peek-a-booing
around. She is precious. She followed her foster brother, Shadow into the farm pond last night very enthusiastically until the water hit her belly and she stopped
cold, then tried to figure out what to do, it was so funny, she thought she was being a big girl. Keria is almost ready for adoption. She is updated on vaccinations
and will be spayed this week. She is located in New Salisbury. Here is a link to a video of her in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oom5K3U88YM.

Meet Joker (ARPH #10563). Joker is a 5 month old blue merle male with a handsome tail. He got his name because he loves to smile. Joker is an
outgoing little man who just adores attention and thinks petting is just the best. He loves playing with toys of any kind, even the ones his foster mom calls shoes.
Joker is teething and loves chewies of all kinds but so far has left the furniture alone. This smart boy is almost completely housetrained and seems to understand
that outside is the best place to go potty. Joker is working on his house watching skills by letting us know anytime someone is near the house, nothing gets by this
guy. He is not real sure what to make of the kitties yet but should be fine in a house with cats. Our little Joker is a smart playful young man who will do well with
just about any family who has some time to play and cuddle. Joker is up-to-date on his vaccinations and is neutered. He is located in Porter.

Adopted 04/13/08!
This is Shadow (ARPH #10421), a black-bi male, about 60 lbs, handsome and sweet. He is approximately 2 years old, is housebroken and greets everyone with that
Aussie butt wiggle. He has had all of his shots, is on heartworm preventative, and is microchipped. He loves people, but has not had a lot of play time so really
doesn't understand what toys are, he does know some basic commands sit, down, off and is very eager to learn; he obviously had not spent much if any time inside
a house so the normal house noises of electric can opener, vacuum and hair dryer send him running. Even at 60 pounds he has managed to climb up into the recliner
with his foster mom trying to be a lap dog. He gets along well with the other foster furkids although there have been some low growls between him and one of the
male furkids when it comes to the foster mom, both want to be close and don't want the other one to be. He has adapted to in-house living very easily, within the
first hour of arriving at his foster home he had already figured out the dog door, he likes being in the nice warm house and found his safe place under the foster
mom's desk. He wants to be a real lovebug and I believe will be a true companion as he likes to be around his person. He is located in New Salisbury.

Meet Dillon (ARPH #10310). Dillon is a wonderful 1-1/2 year old red-tri male. He just absolutely loves people! He is definitely
a “velcro” Aussie as he loves to be with you at all times. No matter what you’re doing he’s happy to “help” you with it, whether it is laundry, working outside, or
playing with him! Since he is young he still has much of the Aussie energy that the breed is known for. We think that due to his amazing intelligence, eagerness to
please and energy level he would be very successful at agility, Frisbee or flyball. Dillon does have separation anxiety, most likely due to the fact that he was
dropped off at a shelter by his first family, and then after being adopted by his second family they also decided they could not keep him and brought him back to
the shelter; now he find himself in ARPH foster care. Understandably, Dillon is a little confused and just really wants to be with his own people. His foster homes
have been working on his separation anxiety and he showing a vast improvement. Dillon gets along well with other dogs, is okay with cats but has yet to be exposed
to children while in our foster care. We think that he would be good with older kids because of his energy level. Dillon’s photos do not show how really handsome
he is, but with all the changes in his life right now he’s a little excited which has made it difficult to get a really good photo. Dillon is a great and loving Aussie
who needs a forever home where he will be loved and given the time to learn that a home can last forever. Dillon is located in Franklin. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please complete an
ARPH Application Form. ONLY those with an
approved application on file should contact the ARPH rescue rep listed.

Private Referral (listed 04/28/08)
This is Toby, a 2 year old blue merle male. He is up to date on vaccinations, is neutered, and is quite small at 35-40 lbs.
Toby knows his basic commands, is housebroken and crate trained. He is very affectionate and tries very hard to please his owners. He loves to play with his toys,
especially balls and Frisbee! Toby has had a bit of a rough start, his first owner was unable to keep him due to insufficient time to exercise him, and thought it would
be best if he had a different home. She found Toby a really great home where he adjusted quickly to the farm life and his new owners. He loved being able to run
free on the farm and learned the boundaries of the property very quickly and never went outside of them. Even though he was allowed to wander the property he
spent the majority of his time close to the house with his owners and always showed great recall to his name. On the farm he was exposed to horses, cattle and
other dogs and got along great with all of them. He bonded very quickly with his new owners and within a couple of weeks began to start protecting them from
men that he didn't know, which is why Toby is up for adoption again. Toby needs a forever home where he will be provided with space to run and get the
exercise that he needs. Most importantly he needs an owner who will be able to work with his over-protective nature and teach him appropriate behavior with
new people. Toby is located in Galveston.

Private Referral (listed 04/08/08)
This is Shera. Shera is a wonderful, average sized, 4 year old, red merle female. I have never met a dog as happy to be around people as Shera.
She greets new people with kisses and wiggles. She loves both adults and children but would probably do best in a home without toddlers, as she is quite active
and has a high energy level. She loves to play, especially fetch with her favorite red rubber ball. Shera had an obedience class 3 years ago but would benefit greatly from
a refresher course. She rides really well in the car and seems to enjoy the ride. Shera will need a home without other dogs as she does not get along with them.
Shera is current on vaccinations and is spayed. She is located in Zionsville.

Private Referral (listed 04/08/08)
Meet Skye. Skye is a beautiful 3 year old, average sized, blue merle female. She is a very sweet girl who loves all people, especially children, even
young toddlers. Skye really enjoys toys; anything that she can chew on, carry around or especially fetch is great in her eyes. Skye has been to obedience class
and knows sit, come, fetch, shake and back (when you are entering or leaving through the door). She will still need some obedience traing to learn not to pull on a
leash. Skye is housebroken and crate trained. She absolutely loves her crate! Skye has not lived with other dogs but has spent time with them when they were
visiting. She does well with them as long as they don't bother her while she's eating. Skye is current on all her vaccinations, she is spayed, heartworm negative
and on preventative, plus she is microchipped. Skye is located in Valparaiso.

Private Referral (listed 03/25/08)
Meet Duke. Duke is a fun-loving 2-1/2 year old, average-sized, red-bi male. Duke's current family rescued him from a situation where he was severely
neglected: he wasn't getting the attention or health care that he needed. Duke has made a lot of progress with his family but they have made the difficult decision
to find him a new home because they feel they cannot give him the attention and exercise that he needs. Duke has been to obedience classes and knows sit, stay,
leave it, off, heel and come. Duke is also housebroken and crate trained. He loves to be petted, to go for car rides, going jogging and hiking with his owners,
playing fetch, and absolutely loves the challenge a Kong provides. Duke gets along great with other dogs. He will need an Aussie savvy home without young
children or small animals because of his strong herding instinct. He also needs a home with a fence. Duke would benefit from a home where he has a job and
would also really enjoy the mental stimulation that obedience training, agility or Frisbee would provide. At the end of the day Duke just really wants owners
who have the time to play with him! Duke is located in Indianapolis. He is up-to-date on his vaccinations and neutered.

Older Dog
Private Referral (listed 07/18/07)
This is Pablo. Pablo is 9 years old, pure bred, about 45 lbs., and a very handsome male blue merle Aussie. Although he is 9 years old he is still
very healthy, active and playful. He has never outgrown his desire to be the center of attention. He knows most commands (he went to puppy school) and
learns new things all the time. He loves to talk and be talked to. He has not gotten the care and attention he deserves because the daughter in his home has
been in the hospital. His owners think it would be best for him to be in a home as the only dog with a family that could give him the love and attention he
wants (or maybe with one other younger or less dominant dog). He has lived with another male dog. He does chase cats. Pablo has been a good dog, but their
time and attention are limited, especially now. It makes them sad to think of him leaving, but they know it's what’s best under the circumstances. Pablo is
located in McCordsville. If interested please contact one of these volunteers who are screening and interviewing interested adopters: Teddie at teddie@tigerlilyonline.org
or Georganne at annaverv@yahoo.com with questions or for more information.
